How to Read a COA

GUIDE How to Read a COA A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is the document that tells you exactly what is in the vial. Every batch we sell ships with one, issued by an independent, third-party laboratory. This guide explains what each part of the document means so you can verify your material with confidence.
What a COA Is
A COA is a batch-specific report documenting purity, identity, and composition, verified by an independent laboratory. It is not a marketing sheet — it reflects the actual analytical results for the specific batch you received. At Gorilla Research Labs, 100% of batches ship with a COA.
Key Fields on the Document
Batch / Lot Number The unique identifier for the production run. Match this to the batch number printed on your product, and cross-reference it against our COA database to confirm the document belongs to your material. Compound Identity The name of the compound the batch was tested for. LC-MS (mass spectrometry) results confirm molecular identity and rule out contamination or degradation. Purity The measured purity, typically determined by HPLC. Our average purity is 99%+, and HPLC analysis confirms purity meets or exceeds the stated specification. Analytical Methods The techniques used to generate the results — usually HPLC for purity and LC-MS for identity. These are validated analytical methods. Issuing Laboratory The independent, accredited lab that performed the testing. Our testing partners have no financial ties to Gorilla Research Labs, which keeps the results impartial. Chromatogram / Spectra The visual output from HPLC and LC-MS analysis. A clean, well-resolved peak profile supports the reported identity and purity values.
How to Verify Your COA
• Locate the batch number printed on your product. • Cross-reference that batch number against our COA database. • Confirm the compound name, batch number, and issuing laboratory on the COA match your order. • Check that the reported purity meets the product’s stated specification. If any detail does not match, contact us before using the material. A COA documents identity and purity for research purposes. It does not authorize or imply any use beyond laboratory and scientific research. All products sold by Gorilla Research Labs are intended strictly for laboratory and scientific research purposes only. Not for human consumption.
